Fall

“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.” Unknown

I’ve been anticipating the arrival of fall as a catalyst. A shift into new energy.

But with Midwest temps still blazing, we had to chase the crisp air of autumn out west to Utah on a couples trip.

Fall always invites reflection. A chance to reset, recommit, and reimagine how we want to show up for the next season of life.

This weekend was the perfect culmination of this seasonal transition — a move from summer’s intensity to fall’s slower, deeper pull.

From doing to being.

With an incredible group of new and old friends, we made space for stillness. For nature. For laughter. For reflection.

It was a full-body, full-soul reset — the kind that slingshots you back into the world reinvigorated and renewed.

Nature

Our house sat high on the mountainside, with panoramic views of endless peaks spilling into the horizon.

Looking down offered more than just a view…it offered an adjusted perspective.

The noise, the stress, the daily push…it all felt a world away.

Here, there were only golden trees, crisp mountain air, birdsong, and the low hum of conversation between friends.

Our daily concerns began to disappear into the vast and breathtaking backdrop outside the windows.

We slowed all the way down.

We watched the sunrise bathe the ridgelines in molten red.

We biked 17 scenic miles through a canyon bursting with fall color.

Overnight, the season finally turned on Saturday. Cold winds swept in. Rain became snow.

We hiked through wet, swirling flakes, laughing at how quickly it all changed.

The adverse conditions only served to deepen the joy and beauty of the experience.

Slowing Down

But the real restorative power of the weekend wasn’t just in the scenery — it was in the connection.

As we slowed down, space opened up.

We found that rare rhythm where time softens and real presence takes hold.

Where friendships deepen and our sense of safe space expands.

Where gratitude settles into something lasting.

Connection like this is food for the soul — and it’s rare to feast like that.

In our harried daily lives, it’s easy to forget to make space for this kind of stillness. Which is why it felt all the more sacred.

And standing in that mountain air, it was impossible not to feel the spirit still pulses through this land. The echo of the people who once crossed this rugged terrain in search of freedom, adventure, and something greater than comfort.

And we return home carrying that sense of possibility with us into the new season.

Carrying It Forward

I’ve been anticipating this weekend for a while now. I’ve been anxious to get moving with renewed energy.

This morning on the mountain, with wind in my face and sun on my skin, I felt something stir:

A readiness. A call to adventure.

An invitation to begin again.

The endless peaks stretched out like unmapped worlds to explore — and I was reminded of the internal terrain waiting to be explored too.

I felt emboldened to keep climbing. To go deeper into the uncertain journey of understanding myself.

To keep chasing new peaks — within and beyond.

And more than anything, I felt gratitude.

For this life. For the people I’m blessed to have in mine.

For the chance to keep growing.

As the season changes, we’re all invited to begin again — grounded, recharged, and clear about what matters.

I return to life at sea level with the expansive spirit of the mountains in my mind!
